If you’re like us, you’ll probably just jump right in with both feet and start creating the fort of your dreams. But for some, taking a peek at helpful hints on Designing and Building a fort will help you hit the ground running.

Remember, the most important ingredient is FUN! These kids couldn't stop laughing and enjoyed building the fort variations even more than playing inside. Although they all wanted to have a slumber party soon!

When designing a fort, there are a couple of things to keep in mind. First, you’ll want to check out the space that you’re using to see how much room you have to create your fort. Is it a large room with a lot of floor space? Does the room have a high ceiling so that you can build a tall fort? Is there just enough room to squeeze the fort between your bed and your dresser? Be sure to figure out how much room you have to work with before designing and building your fort.

Also, inside or outside? Dry weather is great for forts. And when it's warmer, backyard slumber parties are even better with a Toydle fort.

Once you’ve scoped out the building space, you’re ready to plan what kind of fort you’re going to build. Here’s the greatest part about designing a fort with Toydle – there are absolutely no limits to what you can create. Some may want to make a quick drawing on a sheet of paper to get an idea of exactly how you’ll complete the fort. Others will simply think of the design in their head and start creating. The biggest thing to keep in mind is to plan out how many tubes and blocks you’ll need to complete your fort. Now you’re ready to get started!

To get you jump started on some ideas, we’ve compiled a list of some of the basic forts that we’ve built over the years:

  • The tall fort – put one “cube” on top of the other. You can even add the curved rods at the top for a roof.
  • The double wide fort – put one “cube” next to the other and add a roof if desired.
  • The tall and wide fort – this is a combination of the tall fort and the double wide fort.
  • The tent – make a half of a cube and your set!

But for you creative types, we know that you’ve got even better ideas! See if you can create something even more unique. Our friends and family have created a castle, bus, airplane, car, and even a ship. But that’s just the beginning…the Toydle fort can take you wherever your imagination will allow it.
